"Readings with Teenagers"

different modern plays by young playwriters

project in collaboration between theatre and schools
first reading presented on 21 of October 2022
Vene Teater and schools of Tallinn
12+

The project is about building new connections between theatre professionals and the young generation of the audience. The modern plays, that are talking with today’s language about teenagers and young adults are a give a great start for talking with each other. The reading is organized in a laboratory way: two rehearsals with professional actors from the theatre and two rehearsals with readers who were chosen by their classmates from the group, one general run-through and premier for the classmates and teachers. The most important part of this theatre event is the discussion that happens after the readings. Based on the model of ’non-judgmental interview’ the questions are passing the themes «was it good or bad», «who liked it and who didn’t» and leads to the questions about associations, ways of perception, memories and connections. The way that actors and young audience are answering the same questions lets them stay in the zone where there are different age but equal people finally listening for each other.
